State Bank of India is planning to open up branches in Los Angeles, Canada and Sydney. ICICI bank is opening subsidiaries in UK and Canada and representative offices in China, Dubai and off shore banking unit in Singapore.
RBI has imposed a maximum interest rate of 250 basis points (2.50 per cent) above LIBOR for corresponding maturity on Non-Resident External deposits for one to three years.
RBI has asked public sector banks (PSBs) to appoint international audit firms to review their overseas branch operations.
IRDA has capped the minimum return at six per cent and the maximum at 10 per cent on all marketing illustrations (or publicity material)with effect from January 1, 2004.

Bank of Rajasthan has tied up for ATM sharing with UTI Bank, while The Development Credit Bank Ltd (DCB) has announced a tie-up with HDFC Bank for sharing of ATMs.
Morgan Stanley is setting up a new business process outsourcing facility at Mumbai, with over 1,600 people. Deutsche Bank has also announced the start of its business process outsourcing (BPO) operations in India for payment and cash management processing.
TCS has emerged as the top IT software and service exporter in India followed by Infosys Technologies and Wipro Technologies according to a top 20 ranking by Nasscom.

RBI has modified the prudential norms applicable to non-banking finance companies (NBFCs) in relation to their exposure to infrastructure loans.
NRIs would no longer be eligible to invest their monies in small savings instruments.
RBI has now allowed authorised dealers to offer forward contracts to persons resident outside India to hedge the investments made in India.
RBI has allowed Indian companies to grant personal loans in foreign currency to employees working in branches overseas.
