City of London Corporation to set up an office in India

Reserve Bank of India has approved the application by the City of London Corporation to set up an office in Mumbai This was disclosed by Mr Gordon Brown, the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the UK in a roundtable with heads of financial services firms in Mumbai on the 19th January 2007.

The City of London Corporation (formerly known as the Corporation of London) is the municipal governing body of the City of London. It's one of main aim is to promote the Business City as the world's leading international financial and business centre. It already has three offices in China.

Opening of City of London Corporation office in India will facilitate contacts and business between the banking and financial institutions in Britain and India.
