IndusInd Bank extends support to disadvantaged sections of society through NGOs

Mumbai, September 2, 2009: IndusInd Bank in association with the Sahachari Foundation has extended support to seven NGOs which are engaged in helping mentally-challenged individuals, destitute children, life-term prisoners, daughters of women in prostitution and upholding animal rights.

The Sahachari Foundation, a Trust established by 11 women to raise funds for philanthropic causes, organised a fair called 'Design One' on September 1 and 2 in Mumbai. At the fair, these NGOs were given space to showcase and sell a wide range of products like home and life-style products, jewellery, silverware, gift items, fashion wear and accessories. The funds raised from the Design One fair would be utilised by the NGOs to help their respective causes.



Through this initiative, IndusInd Bank is supporting NGOs like Om Creations which is engaged in educating and training mentally-challenged individuals to become economically self-sufficient. Another NGO is Isha Foundation which has pioneered outreach programmes for life-term prisoners, destitute children and embattled women as well as undertaken projects for rural upliftment.

The event also includes BSPCA, an animal rights organisation which has the only animal hospital in Mumbai at Parel. Apne Aap, an NGO engaged in grass-root level work to provide education and shelter for daughters of women in prostitution, in order to protect them from second generation sex work. The other NGOs are Rajasthani Mahila Mandal and Shraddha Charitable Trust.
