Banks shifting to BPO was logical, as a first step most global banks centralized operations and branches became outlet for sales and service only. The next logical step was to hive off the operations to a separate company.

Centralization and Outsourcing also in an indirect way gets linked to the banks channel and automation strategy.
Banks like Citi, SCB and HDFC have done this very effectively.
