Economic development with Inclusivity - Prime Minister Narendra Modi's maiden speech in Parliament

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 11th June 2014 made his maiden speech in Loksabha & Rajyasabha (Parliament), replying to the debate on motion of thanks to President's address. He called upon all members of the Lok Sabha to work towards achieving the goals mentioned therein. He said the elected members of Lok Sabha are now the custodians of the hope and aspirations of the people.

Referring to India`s demographic dividend, the Prime Minister said this only underlines the need for skill development. Skill development should be accompanied by a spirit of "Shram-ev Jayate" – giving dignity to labour. Our identity in the world must change from "Scam-India" to "Skill India."

We have promised to control inflation. We are determined achieve this target. We will do this (control inflation) not only because it is our election promise but we want every poor to have access to food. This is the collective responsibility of all of us, Prime Minister said.

Concluding his reply,he asked for a resolve to present a clean India – Swachh Bharat – to the memory of the Mahatma on his 150th anniversary in 2019.
