Awards Ceremony for India’s First Film Finance awards based on film business on 18th December 2012 at JW Marriott, Mumbai was attended by senior film industry professionals and senior representatives of Films Division, Film Federation of India, Western India Film Producers' Association, Indian Film Exporters Association, NFDC & more.

Shri Jeetendra accepted awards for Most Bankable Production House, Most Profitable Film and also on behalf of Vidya Balan Shri Milan Luthria received his award for Most Bankable Director from Shri V. S. Kundu, Director General, Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting. However, Salman Khan was not able to attend the awards ceremony as he was away for promotional events of his forthcoming film Dabangg 2 at various cities.

BACKGROUND

The Indian film industry is the 2nd largest in the world, with more than 1,000 films produced every year in more than 20 languages, and 3.3 billion tickets sold annually. The business of the industry is soaring with the advantage of being recession proof. Indian Film Industry's local theatrical revenues are projected to grow 10.6% to Rs 7,350 crore in 2012-13 from Rs 6,880 crore in 2011-12. Hindi Film Industry's success ratio has gone up from 15 per cent in 2010 to 25 percent in the current year. Indian Film Industry revenues are going up due to increase in number of multiplexes, digitalization of screens and increase in average ticket prices, satellite, music and new media rights.

To celebrate the 100 years of Indian Cinema, Film Finance Awards are instituted by Banknet Group and Six Sigma Films to award people/companies on the basis of the film related business generated by and through them.

COFFI – Film Finance Awards is the first of its kind in India. These awards will be presented to people/ companies on the basis of their bankability in the film making business. Top ranking bankable movies and the people who have contributed to its success will be honoured with these awards.

Under this system, unlike other Film Awards, selection are based mainly on the Financial Parameters. The rankings are based on quantum of revenues and multiple of returns. Movies released from April 1st, 2011 to March 31st, 2012 were eligible for this award.
