Technology spending by Asian companies is expected to rise 7.6 per cent next year to $208.7 billion, largely by demand from India and China, according to Gartner. This is faster than its forecast 5.4 per cent growth, to $1.75 trillion, for technology spending by businesses worldwide next year.
In Asia Pacific, growth will be driven by software spending with a 12.4 per cent increase to $5.6 billion, followed by a rise of 8.4 per cent to $33.6 billion for information technology services, Gartner said. Telecom services are expected to grow 7.5 per cent to $132.5 billion.
In India, it's the offshoring phenomenon that is driving increased infrastructure spending, as companies need viable infrastructure to support their businesses.
